The Bastard would be Proud
I decided to breakout the axe and hack open a 2016 Backwoods Bastard by Founders Brewing.
I managed to shear off the top of the bottle, but I did not get any glass shards into my beer.
The aging of this BBA scotch ale enhanced the smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts.
The earthy spice and a scintilla of dark fruit was more complex than the younger version. Not to mention I was picking up some vanilla.
Honestly, this is a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate. Also, they decided to brew this year round so you can pick it up anytime so that’s bonus.
Cheers,
