Creative Coin News

Welcome to this first edition of Creative Coin News, an occasional newsletter for the Creative Coin community written by cliffagreen@cliffagreen.

The purpose of this newsletter is to foster a sense of community by reporting on what is happening and, perhaps more importantly, reporting on who is doing what is happening.

We can't very well be part of a community if we don't know who makes up that community. And we can't move or work together if we don't know what everyone else is up to.

So, without further ado, here's a roundup of recent community activity that I'm aware of. If you have a project or event, or even if you have simply heard of something, let me know (on Discord cliffagreen#1444). I'll be happy to help you spread the word.

The Higgs Bubble Dilemma Contests

This summer CCC stakeholder pibara@pibara ran a science fiction contest in two parts: a short story writing contest followed by a contest to review those short story entries.

In the first part, the challenge was to write a short story with this premise and moral dilemma: Humanity learns it is living inside a Higgs Bubble, which is destroying the universe and the billions of races that live outside the bubble. We can save the universe by destroying the bubble and ourselves with it. Should we do it?

Three contestants entered the contest, litguru@litguru, samsmith1971@samsmith1971, and wrestlingdesires@wrestlingdesires, with samsmith1971@samsmith1971 winning the prize of a 100,000 CCC delegation from pibara@pibara until January 31, 2022.

Three contestants (agmore@agmore, blueeyes8960@blueeyes8960, and oblivioncubed@oblivioncubed) also entered the review contest, in which they had to write a review of two of the entries and rate all the entries with a 5-star rating system. The Ink Well's agmore@agmore won the prize of a 98,000 CCC delegation, which will also lasts until the end of January.

Inktober

Inktober is well underway, and two CCC curators are curating the event: vagabondspirit@vagabondspirit and the Creative Coin Fund's fermentedphil@fermentedphil.

You will be able to see some of fermentedphil@fermentedphil's top finds from his curation in upcoming issues of the Creative Coin Fund's (cccf@cccf's) weekly curation report.

In addition, vagabondspirit@vagabondspirit's sister account (parent account?) yintercept@yintercept announced in this post that they are "working on a program to track the curation of the #inktober drawing event."

The Creative Coin Discord now has a channel for sharing Inktober posts; hopefully yintercept@yintercept will share more about this program, along with a report on curation, there.

La Abeja Obrera Literature Contest

The Creative Coin Fund's Spanish literature curator jesuspsoto@jesuspsoto has announced that the second edition of his La Abeja Obrera short story contest is open for entries. The contest features as honoree Venezuelan writer Teresa de la Parra: stories must include the struggle of women in society as a theme, which de la Parra developed in her novel "Ifigenia."

Full guidelines to the contest are available in this entry post. The contest judge, for the second time, is tomasjurado@tomasjurado.

The first edition of the contest closed on October 29 with entries from 36 writers! hlezama@hlezama won first place and 5,000 CCC for his story "Nano." gilliatt@gilliatt and saulos@saulos finished second and third, respectively.
