Ain't nobody got time for that!
Nobody has time to READ any more, especially long drawn out blocks of text. As we rummage through articles we are more than likely to skim through it. We probably read the first paragraph, maybe a quote or two in the middle and perhaps the conclusion and image captions. Unfortunately, we may be missing vital information found within other paragraphs and our retention of the content could be lacking.
There is an answer to this debacle:
Spreed!
Spreed is an amazing application which allows one to read twice as fast or even faster! Normally when we read an article or a book there is lag time that our eyes have when we go from word to word and line to line. With spreed your eyes are kept stationary so you can optimize your reading speed.
- Try the demo to be blown away: spreeder demo
- Download Spreed extension for google chrome.
- Highlight the interesting but lengthy text: [Example] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Mockingbird)
- Press alt+v and have a great time learning while reading twice as fast! (If alt+v does not work click on the spreed icon at the top right of chrome)
If the spreed extension is finicky at times, spreeder is a good alternative.
Share links to great lengthy articles that you like in the description.
