This is empathy
You can see the child's face
Stained with dirt and grime
You can see the hunger there
The desperation in their eyes
They're just trying to survive
To make it through another day
You can't help but feel empathy
For the child caught stealing water
They're not a bad person
They're just desperate and thirsty
You can't help but wonder
What their life must be like
If you were in their shoes
Would you do the same?
You can't help but feel empathy
For the child caught stealing water
