I once held a withered rose the petals crisp and brown what purpose did it serve now clearly lost and down

was this rose a gift of love when they kissed under the lamp or could this be a parting tear the soldier walking to his camp

does this rose hold a tale of loss of memories haunting bare or could this be a good luck charm in diary, wrapped with care

I smiled at the withered rose as it hugged the winds and flew the stars sat back, rapt in fragrance of the rose's tales anew
