Back With The Brigade
With the boys of the old brigade Bridge Brigade of Louisville's Sharp Objects 502. Their name just makes me think of that song, which generally leads to a round or two of 'Come Out Ye Black and Tans.' Don't let the tunes fool you though, the Bridge Brigade isn't that kind of scene.
No Armalites or crew served weapons at the very least. Sharp Objects aims to be a place for the folks that have maybe never been to a protest before, that are just so outraged and activated by the regime that they have to do something.
While the Brigade actions are generally called on short notice, they still manage to draw a consistent crowd of about fifty folks to protest on the bridges over I-64. Between the limited notice and the fact that they're generally timed to coincide with rush hour traffic, the crowd tends to skew more towards retirement age.
These photos are from the brigades two actions since No Kings 3.0 back at the end of March. Have been covering the brigade for a bit now, coming back to the same spots time and again has made for a fun challenge trying to get shots that are not repeats of previous protests' photos.
The Bridge Brigade usually tries to bring a message that will resonate with a broad swathe of the population, but sometimes there's not much point in beating around the bush.
Between the insanity and the insider trading, it's all getting a bit much to take.
Maybe when everyone gets their tariff check, things will calm down a bit. And Jared Kushner has a bridge to sell you in southern Lebanon. . .
In the meantime, the Bridge Brigade (try spelling that three times fast) will keep doing what it does best.
Because we all know we don't need more boots on the ground.
