Curate Mate updates!

A major advantage of using Firebase cloud functions as the backend to Curate Mate is that we can push changes with immediate effect, where as we need approval from Google to make Dialogflow related changes.

The browsing carousel has been improved!

• Attempts to display user provided images - risky in case of NSFW content but much more appealing than 10 whaleshares logos.
• The body of threads are no longer shown in the description of each carousel item.
  • Why? Most threads bodies would include difficult to filter image filenames and formatting that didn't represent the content in its true form.
• Each thread is summarized as "username's post is about: thread's tags"
• Share and comment counts are shown in each item's footer instead of the tags.
• Invalid tag/topic input fallback has been improved

How can Curate Mate improve further?

• Provide translations within Dialogflow and in the backend webhook (using i18n) - this will be one of the last steps.
• If your phone is set to English localization/langauge yet you're blocked from using curate mate, please report the issue to Google directly - this is a problem on their side.
• By simply using Curate Mate! The more you use it, the more relevant feedback you can provide and also the more Dialogflow will learn from your conversations (improving future user interactions).
• We should add the ability to ask for additional trending tags - we support a few hundred tags yet we only suggest the top 30 trending tags in the tag list intent.
