Zenless Zone Zero es un juego de acción y rol de Hoyoverse ambientado en una ciudad llamada Nueva Eridu, el último refugio de la humanidad tras una catástrofe ligada a unas anomalías conocidas como “Hollows”. Dentro de estos Hollows se concentra el “Éter”, una energía misteriosa que, al mismo tiempo que puede ser aprovechada como recurso, también corrompe y da origen a criaturas peligrosas llamadas Etéreos. En este contexto nace la figura de los “Proxies”, especialistas que se adentran en los Hollows para cumplir encargos, investigar y sobrevivir en un mundo donde la frontera entre lo normal y lo sobrenatural se ha desdibujado.

Zenless Zone Zero is a Hoyoverse action role-playing game set in a city called New Eridu, humanity's last refuge after a cataclysm linked to anomalies known as "Hollows." Within these Hollows, "Ether," a mysterious energy, is concentrated. While it can be harnessed as a resource, it also corrupts and gives rise to dangerous creatures called Ethers. In this context, the figure of the "Proxies" emerges: specialists who venture into the Hollows to complete missions, investigate, and survive in a world where the line between the normal and the supernatural has blurred.
El núcleo del lore gira en torno a cómo Nueva Eridu se levantó sobre las ruinas de capitales anteriores y sobre decisiones muy cuestionables de corporaciones, fuerzas de seguridad y facciones que explotan los Hollows para su propio beneficio. La ciudad funciona gracias a una economía basada en el Éter y en la tecnología asociada, como los Bangboos, pequeñas unidades robóticas que apoyan a los Proxies en sus misiones. Sin embargo, bajo la fachada de “última ciudad segura”, hay conspiraciones políticas, experimentos éticos dudosos y grupos que buscan controlar la corrupción etérea para usarla como arma. Por eso, aunque la estética sea muy urbana y dinámica, con bares, tiendas y calles llenas de anuncios brillantes, el trasfondo es mucho más oscuro: Nueva Eridu está literalmente construida sobre peligros que jamás han sido resueltos.
The core lore revolves around how New Eridu rose from the ruins of previous capitals and the highly questionable decisions of corporations, security forces, and factions that exploit the Hollows for their own gain. The city functions thanks to an economy based on Ether and associated technology, such as Bangboos, small robotic units that support the Proxies on their missions. However, beneath the facade of the "last safe city," there are political conspiracies, ethically dubious experiments, and groups seeking to control ethereal corruption and weaponize it. Therefore, while the aesthetic is very urban and dynamic, with bars, shops, and streets full of bright advertisements, the underlying reality is much darker: New Eridu is literally built on dangers that have never been resolved.
Uno de los elementos más importantes del lore son las facciones y grupos que interactúan con los Hollows. Están los Voidhunters, cazadores de Etéreos que en su momento participaron en la defensa de la ciudad y en la creación de las bases del sistema actual. También aparecen organizaciones como Vision Corporation y la Eridu Defense Force, que en diferentes épocas han llevado a cabo proyectos masivos dentro de los Hollows, a veces disfrazados de obras de “progreso” pero con consecuencias desastrosas. En medio de todo esto están los Proxies legendarios, entre ellos el dúo de hermanos Wise y Belle, conocidos como Phaethon, que utilizan un sistema especial para sumergirse en los Hollows y gestionar encargos desde su videoclub Random Play.
One of the most important elements of the lore is the factions and groups that interact with the Hollows. There are the Voidhunters, hunters of Ethereals who once participated in the defense of the city and in creating the foundations of the current system. Organizations like the Vision Corporation and the Eridu Defense Force also appear, which at different times have carried out massive projects within the Hollows, sometimes disguised as works of "progress" but with disastrous consequences. Amidst all this are the legendary Proxies, among them the sibling duo Wise and Belle, known as Phaethon, who use a special system to immerse themselves in Hollows and manage jobs from their video rental store, Random Play.
