DIY Detachable Bow-like Accessories For Princess Ball Gown
Hello #Needlework community and compliments of the season to you all.
The last few weeks have been very hectic and stressful for fashion designers. My wife has been right in the middle of that rush, so I tried to help her out however I could. I decided to handle some of the smaller accessories for a few of her clients' dresses to take some weight off her shoulders.
I made these bow accessories for two little girls' ball dresses. I made them detachable so they can be placed anywhere on the waist, the chest, or the shoulder. In this case, the kids preferred wearing them on their shoulders. They turned out really nice and the children loved them.
How I Made Them
I started by cutting two rectangular pieces of fabric, one large and one small.
I sewed all the way around the edges.
Then, I made a small hole in the middle to let me turn the fabric inside out so the seams wouldn't show.
I did this for both pieces. Here is what they looked like
I placed the smaller piece on top of the larger one and ran a gathering stitch through the center to give it that bow shape.
To make it detachable, I used these brooch pins.
I cut out wadding piece in a round shape
I used candle wax to gum the pin to the wadding.
And attached it to the back of the fabric bow
Here is the final result. It’s a simple addition, but it really finished the dresses off well.
