Aceh Traditions - Peucicap

Hi Asean Hive Community and Hive Cross culture! Greetings from Aceh Province, Indonesia @asean.hive @kidsisters @justinparke @sreypov. Hope you are all in well and good health. My latest post this time is an Peucicap as Acehnese tradition that is still practiced today.

It feels like the happiness of husband and wife is not complete before the presence of a child, the baby, the longing reaper, the eye flower in the household. The presence of the child is the most awaited moment. a sacred event for the people of Aceh as a form of gratitude for the presence of a baby in their life. my aunt got married about six years ago, after a long wait she finally gave birth to a cute baby boy. we and our neighbours are also happy and hope that this child will grow up and be useful for religion, nation and state.

some religious leaders, relatives, and neighbours were invited by the baby's parents. after the event the guests were also served with food, drinks, cakes as a thank you for making the event a success.

Here are some photos I present to illustrate the "Peucicap" culture in Aceh, this photo I took several days ago when the Child Peucicap was from my aunt from Langsa Town.

Peucicap means tasting baby food. Good food that tastes salty, sour, sweet, or bland.
A variety of food menus are tasted for newborn children. For example, real honey, roasted chicken, and a variety of fresh fruits such as apples, grapes, oranges, mangoes, apple, pears, and Zam - zam water.

The leader of this ritual reads a prayer that is approved by the congregation. With the hope that the child will become an obedient servant to Allah and His messenger, be devoted to parents, and be able to liven up a social sense with the wider community.

In other languages, it is called feeding training or training babies to eat other than breast milk. Peucicap is usually done when the baby is seven to 44 days old.

Peucicap is most dominant at the age of seven days, along with the hair-shaving procession.
