A needlebook that makes you embroider everywhere

Hi everyone! I’m back to sharing the creative projects—design and textile art—that I’ve really enjoyed working on.

I spent the whole year attending an open studio in São Paulo called Ateliê Vivo, run by a group of women; they taught various textile techniques there. I met many women who had been embroidering for a long time—almost daily. That’s when I got the idea to make this needlebook —a prototype of an embroidery kit designed to fit in your purse, perfect for anyone who wants to embroider while out and about or commuting. It’s a kit containing a needle, a pin, threads, and scissors. I created the pattern—which was hand-painted—drawing inspiration from the colors of the Bauhaus, the German school of design, art, and architecture.

I used it for the first time last weekend. I took my mom to the hospital for a medical exam and did some embroidery while there. I also went for breakfast in the Serra da Cantareira area with my boyfriend and brought my little embroidery kit along. Later, we went to a skate park, and there I was—happily embroidering away.

I’m currently testing how it fits in my bag and figuring out the size; I’ll probably add a button to close it, but I’m super happy with the result. It’s become a little favorite of mine—I think it’s so cute. What do you think? Let me know!

Olá pessoal! Voltando a compartilhar aqui as coisas que eu tenho ficado muito feliz de realizar, de criação, design, arte têxtil.

Passei o ano inteiro frequentando um coletivo, de umas meninas de São Paulo um ateliê aberto chamado Atelie Vivo, onde eram ensinadas diversas técnicas têxteis. Lá eu encontrei muitas mulheres que já bordam há muito tempo, quase diariamente. E aí eu tive a ideia de fazer esse estojinho, um protótipo de um estojo de bordado pra levar na bolsa, pra quem quiser bordar na rua, em trânsito. É um kit com agulha, alfinete, linhas tesoura. Eu criei esta padronagen, que foi pintada à mão, inspirada nas cores da Bauhaus, que é uma escola de design, arte e arquitetura alemã.

No último final de semana eu usei ela pela primeira vez. Levei minha mãe para fazer um exame de hospital e bordei. Fui tomar um café da manhã na Serra da Cantareira com meu namorado e levei meu kitzinho de bordado. Depois fomos numa pista de skate e lá estava eu bordando, feliz.

Estou testando ele na bolsa, entendendo se o tamanho, é provável que eu coloque um botão para fechar, mas eu tô super feliz com o resultado, ele é meu xodózinho, tô achando ele muito fofo. O que vocês acharam? Me conta!
