A dream snatched by policy.
In life, no matter how careless we tend to be. We all have dreams, either big or small, it's a dream.
As a student in school, before we actually picked jamb form in this part of the world(Nigeria) where you write jamb before being admitted in some higher institution.
Before we take that bold step to pick jamb form, we all have what we strive to be. We all have dreams.
As a human, I'm not an exemption. I had dreams, not just dream but big one. Right from my secondary school. I had a dream of being a journalist, a big one at that. I just wanted my voice to heard. I wanted people to hear how well I speak. I mean, this dream influence me to study hard, always craving to learn. Eager to learn new things, work on my vocabulary. This dream became a part of me, as everyone around me would always see that in me.
This dream continued until I wrote my WAEC and JAMB. The first elements that crippled my dream was when my jamb results was released. I didn't meet the cut of mark for my course in my choice of institution.
I was left with two options, to either change the institution or change the course.
Considering the fact that, the institution that will accept my score is very distant from my state. And my parents wouldn't want me to go far.
I decided not to pick any options, but agreed to rewrite JAMB the second time.
This time around, my dad sat me down, gave me reasons why I need to change my course and study library and information science. I obeyed cause I will always want to make my dad proud.
Fast forward to today, I have a degree in library and information science and I don't regret in one bit.
I still have my other big dreams which I pray this part of the world don't crippled it again with policies.
This is my response to this week's prompt.
