Earliest form of tools, an copper axe.
The particular find was a random, sporadic isolated find. ~200 meters of elevation, dense forest.
Craftmanship is unprecedented. Edge is sharp, & makes ringing sound if you drag your finger across it.
The exhibit had the dirt removed with a brush then it was wax treated.
It is miniature in size compared to what we today consider an axe tool. Great example of metal mining & manufacturing evolution.
Talk me about those kitchen knives getting dull.

Copper was the first metal to be used to for weapons and tools making. Mining and smelting skills spread from Asia Minor to Central Europe 4000 years BC. Around 3000 BC, high-ranking men owned a copper axe, which was often buried with them. A copper axe was used not only for woodworking and felling trees but was also a powerful close-combat weapon.
