Unexpected Locations

Sometimes things don’t go as planned. It was a simple cardiac cath lab procedure for my Mom. An accidental nick of the ascending aorta led to a major tear, emergency open heart surgery with a full ascending aortic graft, triple bypass, and here we are now in the ICU. She’s stable and expected to recover, but that outpatient simple procedure turned into a long road to recovery. At 79 she’s in pretty darn good health, but also…she’s 79 so doesnt recover like a 39 year old :)
