Journey in central Italy

Poco tempo fa ho trascorso una breve vacanza nel centro Italia, dalle parti del lago di Bolsena, che si trova nell’alto Lazio

Il Lago di Bolsena è di origine vulcanica, è molto carino e trasmette una gran tranquillità. Si possono praticare diversi sport: vista la profondità si possono fare immersioni con bombole , canottaggio, kayaking, sci nautico, wakesurfing, wakeboarding, kitesurf, windsurf, ecc.
Noi abbiamo alloggiato in un accogliente agriturismo

da cui si poteva scorgere una splendida vista sul lago.

Dopo qualche giorno sul lago, siamo andati a visitare Il Sacro Bosco o Parco dei Mostri di Bomarzo.

Il parco è caratterizzato da diverse statue in pietra raffiguranti mostri bizzarri, disposti lungo un sentiero in mezzo al bosco, molto suggestivo.

Questa la conoscerete di sicuro!

Il giorno seguente abbiamo deciso di visitare Villa Farnese, che si trova un po' più a sud.

A parte una salita non indifferente per giungere al palazzo, una volta arrivati si è abbondantemente appagati della fatica fatta (io sono andato a luglio e il caldo si faceva sentire).
La cosa che mi ha molto colpito, oltre alla bellezza dei tanti affreschi, è stata una scala posta all’interno del palazzo

un vero spettacolo di archittettura

e i suoi splendidi giardini.

Poco distante dal lago si trova Civita, meglio conosciuta come Civita di Bagnoregio o la città che muore, chiamata così perché la collina su cui è costruita si sta sgretolando ….
Ma di Civita ne parlerò nel prossimo post.

A short time ago I spent a short vacation in central Italy, in the area of Lake Bolsena, which is located in northern Lazio

Lake Bolsena is of volcanic origin, it is very nice and transmits a great tranquility. You can practice different sports: given the depth you can dive with tanks, rowing, kayaking, water skiing, wakesurfing, wakeboarding, kitesurfing, windsurfing, etc..
We have stayed in a cozy farmhouse

from which you could see a beautiful view of the lake.

After a few days on the lake, we went to visit the Sacred Wood or Monster Park of Bomarzo.

The park is characterized by several stone statues depicting bizarre monsters, arranged along a path in the woods, very impressive.

You will know this one for sure!

The next day we decided to visit Villa Farnese, which is located a bit further south.

Apart from a steep climb to get to the palace, once you arrive you are abundantly rewarded for the effort made (I went in July and the heat was felt).
The thing that struck me very much, in addition to the beauty of the many frescoes, was a staircase located inside the building

a true spectacle of architecture

and its beautiful gardens.

Not far from the lake is Civita, better known as Civita di Bagnoregio or the dying city, so called because the hill on which it is built is crumbling ....
But I'll talk about Civita in the next post.
