HIVE THRIVE— Show #59 —Guest: @worldmappin
Hive Thrive #59: Our Hour for Hive Community
Tuesday, June 9
6 PM UTC
Live in the Hive Thrive Discord
Hosts: @alessandrawhite and
@buttcoins
Guests: @detlev and
@lizanomadsoul from
@worldmappin
This week on Hive Thrive, we are joined by the Worldmappin team to talk about one of Hive’s most visible community projects: a global, interactive map where Hive travel posts, local discoveries, food posts, HBD locations, and community stories can be explored by place.
Worldmappin recently released its 2026 Transparency and Strategy Report, following the launch of Worldmappin V2. We will talk about the map, the travel community, the daily curation work, the new version, the role of @asgarth and the wider development team, and the future roadmap.
What We’ll Dig Into
- What Worldmappin actually is, beyond “that map thing”
- Why travel content still matters on Hive
- What changed with Worldmappin V2
- How the team handles curation, quality, spam, and daily operations
- The role of
@detlev,
@lizanomadsoul, and
@asgarth in keeping the project moving
- What happened with the DHF proposal and the recent defunding
- How much the project costs to run now
- What “transparency” should actually mean, not just as a nice word in a title
- Whether Hive projects should be expected to survive without DHF support
- The uncomfortable but necessary questions around HiveFest, event spending, and community value
- What Worldmappin needs next from Hive users, voters, and witnesses
This will not be a courtroom. Nobody is getting dragged into the village square and pelted with stale downvotes.
But we also are not going to pretend the questions are not in the air.
Hive is having broader conversations right now about funding, sustainability, accountability, events, and what kind of projects deserve long-term support. Worldmappin sits right inside that conversation, so we want to give the team space to explain what they are building, what has worked, what has been difficult, and where they think the project goes from here.
As always, Hive Thrive is a weekly town hall for the Hive community. It is casual, open, and built around direct conversation with the people building, curating, experimenting, and sometimes taking a few arrows while trying to move Hive forward.
Bring questions. Bring curiosity. Bring your slightly suspicious but still hopeful Hive brain.
See you Tuesday.
We hope you’ll join us.
✅ Help people understand what’s actually happening behind the scenes
✅ Reveal the real stories behind Hive’s institutions and projects
✅ Talk openly about governance friction and systemic issues
✅ Look for ways forward that strengthen the network instead of dividing it
Hive is a remarkable experiment.
And like any experiment, it works best when people are willing to talk honestly about it.
