The Best Relationship is Mutual Love

If you had to choose between someone who loves you and someone you love, who would you spend the rest of your life with?

I often see people advise others to choose the person who loves them instead of the person they love. Their reason is that you will be loved the right way.

But they forget one thing: being loved by someone you don’t love can feel uncomfortable. Their touch may mean nothing to you, unlike the touch of someone you genuinely love and want to be with.

On the other hand, if you choose someone you love but who doesn’t love you back, they will likely feel the same way about you. Your presence may annoy them, they won’t appreciate your efforts, and they may always be looking for someone they consider a better option. Many people who settle for someone they don’t love do so because they believe they have no better choice.

I have also seen people speak badly about their partners online after a relationship ends. In some cases, one-sided love is part of the reason. When the provider in a relationship falls on hard times and their partner leaves, it may be because the relationship was built more on what they could provide than on genuine love. Once the money is gone, the relationship falls apart. When love and commitment are mutual, many couples are more willing to face difficult seasons together instead of walking away at the first sign of hardship.

Neither of the first two options leads to a fulfilling relationship. There is no joy in being with someone who doesn’t love you, and there is no happiness in being with someone you don’t love.

As a man, life already comes with many battles. If you are born into poverty, that is another challenge. If you don’t break that cycle as an adult, the struggle becomes even harder. And if you choose the wrong life partner, you may make an already difficult journey even more challenging.

The best outcome is mutual love, being with someone you love and who also loves you. Choose your partner wisely. The right person won’t just celebrate your success; they will also stand beside you when life gets hard. In my opinion, solving that one decision correctly solves one of the biggest challenges you will ever face in life.
