You are right, the reason why some people prefer to hid it is because of the negative response they get from others, if you tell someone you are heartbroken and depressed, rather than comfort you, you will hear statement like you are sad because of a girl, tell someone you fainted because you lost your job, you will hear them say you are not man enough, what is the point of telling them! But then we have people who cares and will say the right word you need to hear, we just need to be around those people with positive words.
