Attending A Carnival! ๐ช๐ฟ
This week, we were able to attend the Your Festival in our hometown. It is just a quaint little event that focuses on small vendors, carnival rides, live music, and greasy snacks ๐ Although we only attended for a little while, I still wanted to share a few photos from our adventure that day.
Before leaving for the festival, we took our girls out onto the trail. Although we are in Canada, we have been experiencing the beginnings of a heatwave as well, so staying shaded amongst the trees has been very important. Here, the girls enjoyed a marshmallow treat we had bought for them earlier.
This trail is quite beautiful... Towering trees, quiet streams, cute critters, and lovely flowers.
Speaking of flowers, we came across a beautiful field of Buttercups! ๐ฅน Yes, we can finally see where the famous pet name came from ๐
I absolutely love buttercups; they are one of my favorite types of flowers. A fond childhood memory, right up there with dandelions...
I'm not sure what it is about buttercups exactly. Perhaps it is their delicate 5-petaled displays. Or the waxy appearance of said petals. Or how buttercups are just the right shade of yellow... But yes, I find them to be very cute~
The girls had a wonderful time. We were even fortunate enough to catch sight of some froggies in the stream! ๐ฅฐ As well as those TERRIBLELY ugly Water Strider bugs! ๐ญ I was unable to capture pictures of them, but if you know, you know! (Fortunately, they are completely harmless).
The girls tried looking for bugs as well, but we only found the usual suspects: ants, worms, beetles, and centipedes. We tell the girls that if they find something unusual, such as a caterpillar, they are welcome to take it home for a day.
Along the way back home, I came across this beautiful bush of Czechmark Trilogy Weigela. These flowers are hummingbird attractive, but we didn't see any today...
As we drew closer to our neighborhood, I came across some wonderful graffiti! Stranger Days sounds reminiscent of Stranger Things, and I thought it captured the vibe of our city beautifully.
A lovely rose stands alone...
Some more local artwork was spotted. This piece was truly captivating... It appears to be a cross between a Monarch Butterfly and a cyborg. The dazzling luminescent lights are very beautiful.
I caught sight of this wonderful Foxglove. While they are beautiful to admire, foxglove is actually toxic ๐ฑ BUT, with the proper knowledge, people can utilize the leaves in order to make pharmaceuticals for heart conditions.
This one is a Mediterranean Bell flower; they are absolutely exquisite. The petals are adorned with the colors of pink and yellow, a beautiful combination...
(Please don't mind my strange-looking thumb in the picture, yes, I realize it is strange ๐)
Anyway, by the time evening had approached, we made our way over to the festival~ ๐ช Unfortunately we did not stay long, as the prices were ridiculous! $60 for 26 tickets -- what a rip off! What ever happened to all-day bracelets for a set price? You could go on as many rides as you wanted for only $30!
So, the girls only ended up going on one ride: the racing cars! ๐ It is basically a merry-go-round with cars instead of horses. They loved it! ๐ The two of them shared the hot rod, honking their little horns the whole time.
It was a rather bittersweet moment as well... My best friend had set up her face painting stall there -- or, should I say, my ex-best friend. Our friendship did not withstand the test of time... Our girls wanted to get their faces done, but by the time I realized who was the vendor, I told them I was unable to be apart of it. Everybody agreed that we should go somewhere else.
We went over to the band shell to listen to some of the local artists play. For the most part, it was rock and blues-themed. We all had a wonderful time though!
(By the way, these are my NEW GLASSES ๐ I haven't gotten a new pair in over a decade! I don't know if they're a complete match, but I think they look okay ๐)
A beautiful ending to the day... A cotton candy sunset with a full moon looking on. The perfect picture to listen to Clair de Lune.
