FROZEN WORDS

Frozen words.jpg

Marshy mind and bracken frowned, hiding under eider down.
A year of fear spun round and round, till driven in the ground.
Hollow heart of dripping ice, long gone days of paradise,
Just a break would be nice, stop the world from turning round.

Sister ill and don’t know why, bombs are falling from the sky,
In ignorance our flags will fly, stop the world from turning round.

Friends are dying all around me, words of leaders re-astound me,
Their dark and bleakened rivers drown me, Stop the world from turning round.

Children cursed of aspiration, selfish greed, no inspiration,
The data feed that feeds the nation, stop the world from turning round.

Working almost day and night, rarely time to fly the kite,
Freedom’s dreams drift out of sight, stop the world from turning round.

Drastic numbers, running scared, set adrift and unprepared,
The gears grind onward unperturbed, stop the world from turning round.

Stop the world from turning round, turn the conveyors off and cool them down,
Set the hill fires, send a message, Stop the world from turning round.

There’s trouble in the town, a flight of stairs my mum fell down,
Daughter bullied out of school, stop the world from turning round.

Cease that awful, grinding sound, release the gears that run my treadmill,
Stop the world from turning round.

Take this coal from in my soul, Take the hole within my heart,
Fill it, till it’s spilling out, or throw me back into the dark.
Take me right back to the start
Freeze the breeze, till there’s no sound,
No more trouble in the neighbourhood, Frozen bombs don’t hit the ground,
Please….. Stop the world from turning round.
