Budget Meal and Meltdowns
Yeah this could be the advanced stages of budget meal mastery. To be quite honest I’ve always been a supporter of the creative cuisine thing, but now it is more of what’s left in the pantry that won’t kill me? kind of vibe.
So yesterday I attempted to make a budget friendly meal, and ended up having a minor meltdown when I realized I was out of my favorite seasoning. It's funny how the little things can set you off when you're already feeling a bit overwhelmed. I took a deep breath, reminded myself that I'm a 'strong, independent, broke woman,' and then added a dash of hot sauce instead. Problem solved? Sort of.
On the bright side, I did manage to find a few online resources for free budgeting apps and side hustle ideas. Apparently, there’s a whole community of people out there who are experts at turning spare change into, well, slightly more spare change. I’m taking notes.
My friend, the 'Max' to my 'Caroline,' sent me a link to a webinar about online freelancing. He's been trying to encourage me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. He said, “You’ve got the talent, just need to find the right outlet.” I think he might be right, but the thought of pitching myself to clients still makes me want to hide under a blanket.
Anyway, I’m trying to stay positive. I’m learning that this 'broke era' is less about the lack of funds and more about the abundance of lessons. Lessons in resourcefulness, resilience, and the sheer creativity required to survive on a diet of tuna and hot sauce.
So, here’s to another day of hustling, budgeting, and trying not to cry over spilled seasoning.
Until tomorrow,
Still broke, still learning, still trying to make tuna exciting.
