Unkempt Solace

It was 2014 and I could not believe that I had no one to talk to about a homosexual child. For something that seemed so prevalent on TV and in the news why couldn't I find anyone who could relate to me. I just wanted to talk to another mother who found out that she had a homosexual son. I needed someone to know what I was feeling. Someone to reassure me that I would survive. Even the pastor's wife gave me the, "I am so sorry head-shake," followed by, "I do not know what to say." Finally, by racking my brain, I remembered a nutrition client that in-not-so-many-words told me in a roundabout way, that her son was gay. I called her and she brought over the book, "Where does a mother go to resign?" by Barbara Johnson. At first, I thought it was because she too did not know what to say but then I began reading it! It was exactly what I needed!
