Well, Hello There ~ A Selfie In Words
So. I ghostwrite. What do I ghostwrite? Things I can't talk about, because, you know, NDA's. Isn't that a marvelous way to get out of that conversation?
I do tell people that I work from my bed, in my pajamas. You should see the looks I get.
And write my own stuff, mainly science fantasy, which I was told by an agent is not a category. Consider yourself warned.
People tell you that you can't earn a living writing. Those are jealous, jealous people who'd like to have the courage to earn their daily bread by throwing caution to the wind. Hey, I used to work a cubicle job, (actually, I had an office, but nevermind) and I can understand why they feel that way. It's lonely in that cubicle. But I learned over the years that other peoples' advice never works for me so I just do what pops into my head. Write other people's books for them? Sure, why not?
I came to writing late, after the Cubicle Company decided to outsource my job and my entire department offshore. Really, that was a bit of overkill to get rid of me, don't you think? They could have invited me to leave the usual way. Or could they? I may have given the impression I knew where the bodies were buried.
But it all worked out in the end. I wrangled continuing education out of the deal through one of Obama's programs (thank, Obama,) and finished my degree. And then, because there were no jobs for a fifty-something woman in my dying industry, I decided to freelance. Okay. It wasn't that easy. The first year was tough. But hey, now I turn away business, because there is only one of me, and the cloning company declined my credit card.
Otherwise, there isn't much to tell. At least nothing for polite company.
I do a bunch of social media. It's like potato chips. You can't do just one:
Beth Turnage Blog I post stories, and pieces about writing. If you want to understand Lexical Density as it applies to writing, you'll find more than a few articles.
Quora Plenty of stuff on Quora, including articles on astrology, because I am a very good astrologer, thank you very much.
Should you wish to email me my address is beth@bethturnage.com
It's a pleasure to be on Steemit. I look forward to hanging out here. :) Feel free to shout out.
That should get things rolling. And I leave you with this thought to mull:
