Hello there, Hivers!

Today's Zentangle is a take on the use of colors and how to go from a deep value to some lighter ones.

The first step is to create a grid of squares. But the trick is to make them with wavy lines so they are not too rigid. Then we choose a starting position for the deepest hue of color. I'm using blue in this case but it can be any color as long as you have enough hues of it svaibke to create the degradation pattern.

You crate one line of the color and then start using the rest of them to create another line to the side of the previous one until you have all the colors in place. Since this paper was made for markers, it is easier to go back and use the markers again to add more ink without the risk of breaking the paper.

The next step is to make the outlines of the saqures thicker. The original idea is rounding them, but any king of line work on the margins does the trick.

The final step is adding shadows to make the squares deeper. Here's where the thing got a bit complicated. I had to start looking for which color worked well as the shadow of another. There's no actual shadow on the deeper tone of blue since it is already quite dark. But you can see there's some work on the other to create the sensation of depth. There are no highlight since I don't have a pen or something that could give me some white tones. I'll look for a gel pen for future works.

But that's it. It took me around half an hour to make this workout stopping except for taking photos.
