Aaaargh... the most annoying thing about gardens is the lack of a pause button when you get too busy to spend some time on general garden upkeep.

Sure, we have now slowly gotten areas mulched with either wood or rocks/pebbles... and other areas covered with weed-mats ready to be covered... so, that reduces the amount of ongoing work that needs to be done. But even still... there are going to be unwanted things that keep popping up everywhere... and even having a spare half hour every now and then to pull up some of the weeds would stop them multiplying out of control...

.. but sadly, both my wife and I have been completely swamped (or away on tour...) for the last couple of months... and so, we have only had the most minimal amounts of time in the garden. And so, our weeds and unwanted grasses are flourishing! In fact, some of them are getting quite huge...

... I do have a bit more time in the coming couple of weeks... still concerts and stuff, but at least they are local... and that means that I can just spend an early hour in the freezing cold digging up weeds and tidying up. My goal is just to regain some of the lost momentum that we had... and if possible, get a few more areas covered up with wood mulch and finish off clearing roughly 10-15 square metres of surface near the clothes line so that we are completely ready to lay the new grass when spring comes around. That would be a huge breakthrough as that would mean that we have one large section completed, and there would only be one side in that area that would be untamed and vulnerable to incoming growth.

Hopefully by the end of winter, we will also be able to finish of the stone/pebble pathing around the house, which would again reduce the amount of "weed-fighting" maintainence that takes up our gardening time. It is all currently weed-matted... but some grasses are starting to grow around and through the double layer... so, I want to get that all done and sorted before the real growing season of spring comes about!

... and when I get a chance, I'm going to buy a new ladder as well to tidy up the roof again... our parents in law borrowed it to do their house building... but that is taking a lot longer than expected!
