Bed Bugs???

A reminder to check beds when you are travelling!

Bah... the last night in one of the tour hotels before moving onto the next city... and I woke up with these bites on my arm. I've never had bed bug bites before... and I'm suspecting that these might have been it... three nights in this particular bed, and there were no problems... except for the occasional mosquito (it is really humid where I am...).

Doctor Google seems to suggest that it MIGHT be bed bugs... that said, they look much worse in the photo than they do in real life. Only one arm, and only the forearm...

... I took my bed apart to see if there was anything in the seams of the mattress and all of that... but nothing.

Well... nothing to do about it but to hope that there aren't eggs in my clothing to take back home. Grrrrr... I hate it when these things happen, but there really isn't much to do about it other than to ask to be moved to a different room... which MIGHT also still have the same problem. However, given that I was checking out anyway, there wasn't even that option readily available.

So, when I get hope... I will hang the wash the clothes and hang them out in the harsh Australian sun for a couple of days to make sure that they are clear of potential eggs.

Still, I'm not a hundred percent sure that they were bed bug bites... or mosquitos... or something else. But I'm glad to be sleeping in a different bed tonight!
