My visit to the cocktail kiosks on the beach (Eng - Esp)
Happy start to the week, fellow travelers around the world! It is a pleasure to share my visit to the famous "Kioscos de los Coctelitos" (Cocktail Kiosks) located on Cacique Maraguey Avenue in Cumaná. These kiosks stand out for their striking design—inspired, according to one of the attendants, by indigenous dwellings—featuring a dual-pitch roof, wooden roofing, and various structural posts separating the different areas. Each kiosk accommodates several vendors selling this well-known and delicious Cumaná delicacy, which is made from seafood and highly sought after by both residents and visitors.
I visited this part of the city in the afternoon, and to my surprise, several kiosks were open and selling their wares. I loved the view of the sky and the way the sunlight reflected off the kiosks—it looked truly beautiful. Additionally, behind several of the kiosks lies one of the boardwalk's viewing points, offering a vista of the stunning Araya Peninsula and the vast expanse of the sea. The kiosks feature a concrete base wall that not only supports the wooden beams but also serves as a counter for displaying the products on offer; the design is simple yet attractive. It was my first time visiting this area in the afternoon; the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing, with a cool evening breeze that makes for a leisurely stroll while allowing one to admire the beautiful colors of the sunset. Concrete walkways run along both the front and back of the kiosks, and some of the base walls incorporate stonework, lending a rustic style that complements the coastal setting. Further along, toward the Los Mangles sector, there are other kiosks with green roofs bearing the phrase "Coctelitos Cumaná," while—as previously mentioned—one of the boardwalk's viewing points and its planters can be seen at the rear.
Feliz inicio de semana amigos viajeros en todo el mundo, es un placer compartirles mi recorrido por los famosos Kioscos de los coctelitos, ubicados en la avenida Cacique Maraguey de Cumaná, los cuales destacan por su llamativo diseño, que de acuerdo a la información de uno de los encargados, son inspirados en las viviendas de los aborígenes, con una caída de dos aguas, techo de madera y varios tubos que separan las diferentes áreas, en un kiosco se pueden ubicar varias personas para vender este conocido y delicioso platillo de la gastronomía cumanesa, elaborado con productos del mar y muy buscados por residentes y visitantes.
Mi visita a esta zona de la ciudad la realicé en horas de la tarde y para mi sorpresa habían varios quioscos funcionando con sus productos a la venta, me gustó la vista del cielo y el sol reflejado en estos kioscos, se ve muy bonita, además en la parte trasera, de varios e kioscos se ubica uno de los miradores del malecón desde el cual se observa la hermosa península de Araya y la inmensidad del mar, los kioscos tienen en la parte inferior un muro de concreto, el cual además de funcionar como soporte para las vigas de madera, sirve como mesa para las exhibiciones de los productos que allí ofrecen; su diseño es sencillo y bonito. Es la primera vez, que visito esta zona en horas de la tarde, el ambiente es agradable y relajante, la fresca brisa vespertina permite hacer un recorrido relajado y observar los hermosos colores en el cielo al atardecer, en la parte delantera y posterior de los kioskos se ubican caminerías de concreto y algunos en el muro tienen rocas, lo cual le da un estilo campestre y acorde con la zona costera, avanzando hacia el sector los Mangles, están otros kioscos con el techo de color verde, en los cuales se lee la palabra la frase: "Coctelitos Cumaná", en la parte posterior como lo mencioné se observa uno de los miradores y jardineras del malecón.
In addition to their triangular, gable-roofed design, these kiosks stand out for the murals on their facades; these depict marine life—such as seaweed, coral, and bubbles floating in the vast ocean—as well as clams, octopuses, and other creatures that make up the marine ecosystem.
The colorful murals were my favorite part of the kiosks; they are all beautiful, and although it was hard to pick a favorite, I chose the one featuring a sweet turtle swimming alongside several shrimp, a starfish, a clam, and seaweed, all set against the backdrop of the vast ocean. My son loved this mural too. Since there were quite a few people around the kiosks, it was a bit of a challenge to find an angle that allowed me to fully appreciate the murals, but after several attempts, I managed to get some good shots. In the next image, we see a manta ray, seaweed, octopuses, and shrimp swimming through the vast ocean, along with various corals and a beautiful clam in the center, plus fish, lobsters, and crabs moving about and camouflaging themselves among the seaweed.
Además de su diseño triangular y de dos aguas, estos kioscos son llamativos por los murales en la parte frontal, en ellos se observa la fauna marina algas, corales y burbujas de agua que flotan en el inmenso océano, también almejas, pulpos, entre otros que integran el ecosistema marino.
Esta fue mi parte favorita de los kioscos, los coloridos murales, todos son hermosos y aunque fue difícil elegir el que más me gusta, pude es escoger el mural donde aparece una tierna tortuga nadando y al lado de ella varios camarones, una estrella de mar de mar, una almeja, algas y la inmensidad del océano, a mi hijo también le encantó este mural; como habían varias personas en los kioscos me costó un poco conseguir un ángulo desde el cual se pudieran apreciar estos hermosos murales, luego de varios intentos conseguí algunas fotos donde se observan los murales, en la siguiente imagen vemos una mantarraya, algas, pulpos y camarones nadando por el vasto océano, luego varios corales y una hermosa almeja en el centro, varios peces, langostas y cangrejos, que se desplazan y camuflan entre las algas.
After walking past these kiosks, admiring their beautiful murals, and taking several photos, we stopped in front of one that was unoccupied. We were able to examine the mural of a curious-looking octopus in detail; it looked so lifelike—its large head and bulging eyes were actually a bit spooky, haha! The contrasting colors of the seaweed and clams made it incredibly striking and attractive. Once we finished photographing the octopus and seaweed, we sat on the viewpoint wall to watch the sunset; the view was truly beautiful and incredible, with sky colors creating a magnificent landscape worth admiring.
The sunlight gave the seawater a lovely silvery-gold hue, and the silhouettes of the rocks looked spectacular. In another photo, we captured the sun, the silhouettes of the kiosks by the shore, and people walking or exercising along the promenade. The final photo shows the calm sea with glimmers of sunlight reflecting across the sky. I really enjoyed visiting this part of the city for its stunning scenery and beautiful sunset; my friend was absolutely right to recommend visiting the coastal strip in the late afternoon, as the sunsets are lovely—perfect for relaxing and connecting with nature. Later in the evening, we headed toward another section of this beautiful coastal area.
Luego de recorrer estos kioscos, ver sus hermosos murales y tomar varias fotografías, nos ubicamos al frente de uno que estaba solo y pudimos apreciar en detalle el mural con un curioso pulpo, que parece real, su gran cabeza y ojos saltones dan un poco de miedo, je, je, además el contraste de colores de las algas y almejas lo hacen muy llamativo y atractivo; terminada la sesión de fotografías con el pulpo y las algas nos sentamos a observar el atardecer desde el muro del mirador y debo decir, que la vista es hermosa e increíble, los colores en el cielo crean un hermoso paisaje digno de admirar y contemplar.
El agua del mar, por la incidencia de la luz solar, adquiere una hermosa tonalidad plateada y dorada, la silueta de las rocas se ve espectaculares en otra de las fotografías observamos el sol y en la silueta de los kioscos a la orilla del mar también varias personas caminando por el mirador y haciendo ejercicios, en la última fotografía tenemos una vista del mar en calma y algunos destellos del sol reflejados en el cielo; visitar esta parte de la ciudad me gustó por las hermosas vistas del paisaje y el hermoso atardecer, tenía mucha razón mi amiga quien nos recomendó visitar la cinta costera en horario vespertino, pues los atardeceres son muy bonitos, y perfectos para relajarse y conectar con la naturaleza, avanzada la noche nos dirigimos hacia otra área de esta hermosa franja costera.
