Back From Holiday With a Land Manager Update

Welcome back everyone!

The holiday is over, I'm fully recharged, and of course I came back with a backlog of ideas that I want to build. ๐Ÿ˜„

Today we kick things off with a new update for https://land.spl-stats.com. During the past few weeks I received quite a few feature requests from the community. Some were small quality of life improvements while others required reworking larger parts of the application. As always I tried to include as much community feedback as possible.

Before jumping into the update, there was one less exciting adventure during my holiday...

While I was away one of my server disks started showing signs of failure. Luckily it was only the disk that hosts the validator, so I was able to remotely recover enough to get everything running again until I got home.

The SMART values are concerning:

Reallocated sectors: 224
Pending sectors: 64
Offline uncorrectable: 64
Reported uncorrectable errors: 117

That disk should be considered end-of-life. I would not trust it any longer.

The first thing I did after returning was order a replacement drive. Not exactly what I wanted to spend my Splinterlands budget on... ๐Ÿ˜…

I also took the opportunity to improve my backup process. Until now I made backups whenever I remembered, which is probably not the best strategy. The backup process is now fully automated, so all I need to do is copy the generated backup to external storage every week or so. Much better peace of mind going forward.

Now... enough about hardware.

Let's get to the fun part!

The biggest focus of this release is the Land Manager workflow. A lot of the improvements came directly from community discussions, especially feedback from azircon@azircon, who suggested making the rental and purchase flows respect the filters.
That sounded like a much more natural workflow, so I decided to redesign a large part of the Land Manager around that idea.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Ideas and feature requests are always welcome. No promises but I will take a look and try my best.

A Better Land Manager Workflow

The biggest change in this release is that the Land Manager has been reorganized into dedicated pages instead of relying on multiple tabs.

This gives every section its own URL, makes navigation easier, and also allowed me to simplify the overall workflow.

Instead of jumping between several tabs to configure workers, rentals, purchases, and bulk actions, most of those actions now live together on the Production page.

The Production page now combines:

  • Production table
  • Rental Actions
  • Purchase Actions
  • Bulk Actions

Everything now works together as one workflow instead of several separate ones.

Filters Now Control Rental And Purchase Planning

This was probably the most requested workflow improvement.
Previously the rental and purchase planner would look at all eligible plots.
Now they only look at the plots that are currently visible after applying your filters.

That means you can first filter exactly the plots you want to work with and then immediately run rental or purchase planning only for those plots.

For example you can now:

  • Configure only Grain plots
  • Only optimize a specific region
  • Only work on powered plots
  • Only update a certain rarity or element

This makes planning much more flexible and was the main suggestion from azircon@azircon.

Rental Overview Gets Its Own Home

The Rental Overview has also been cleaned up.

Instead of mixing production information with rental information, it now focuses entirely on rented cards.

It now includes:

  • Rental Authority
  • Renew Rentals
  • Current Rental Table

Keeping it focused makes it much easier to manage rentals without unrelated information getting in the way.

New Worker Picker Filters

Another community request came from keegs@keegs and fatjimmy@fatjimmy.

The worker picker now supports several additional filters, making it much easier to find the cards you're looking for.

New filters include:

  • Bloodline
  • Maximum PP
  • Max Level Only

Especially for larger collections this should save quite a bit of scrolling.

Terrain Boost Filters

The Production filters now also support selecting plots based on positive terrain boosts for specific elements.

If you're looking to optimize only the plots that benefit a certain element, you can now filter them directly.

A small addition, but a very useful one when optimizing production, requested by fatjimmy@fatjimmy.

Deed History Improvements

Requested by warrentrx@warrentrx , the Deed History roll tables now also display the actual numeric roll values for Fragment and Labor's Luck outcomes.

Sometimes it's just nice to see the numbers behind the result.

Improved Readability

Another request from fatjimmy@fatjimmy was to improve the readability of the Deed Overview.

I've increased the font sizes throughout the page to make everything easier to read.

Please let me know if this feels better or if there are still places where the text is difficult to read. Feedback like this genuinely helps improve the application for everyone.

Lots Of Smaller Improvements

Besides the larger workflow changes there are also quite a few smaller improvements and fixes.

Updates

  • Land Manager now uses page based routing instead of tabs.
  • Production page combines Production, Rental Actions, Purchase Actions, and Bulk Actions.
  • Rental and Purchase planning now respects active Production filters.
  • DEC Actions moved into Bulk Actions.
  • Rental Overview now focuses entirely on rental management.
  • Powered and Unpowered filters moved into the standard filter drawer.
  • Improved large screen layout when filters are opened.
  • Shared Land Manager state now avoids unnecessary data loading.

Added

  • Worker picker filters for Bloodline, Maximum PP, and Max Level Only.
  • Numeric roll values in Deed History.
  • Terrain boost filters.
  • Direct link back to the main spl-stats.com website. (Background artwork still coming ๐Ÿ˜„)

Fixed

  • Improved DEC batch summary counting.
  • Fixed exception when no deeds are owned.
  • Fixed stale worker selections after reconfiguring workers.
  • Improved Deed Overview font sizes.

Closing Thoughts

This release is another great example of how much community feedback shapes these tools.

Many of these improvements started as conversations in Discord or comments from players who use the application every day. Those little suggestions often turn into features that make the whole workflow smoother for everyone.

As always, if you run into bugs, have ideas, or think something could work better, please let me know. Every report helps improve the project.

Thanks again to everyone who keeps testing, suggesting improvements, and helping shape https://land.spl-stats.com.

Until the next update.
