The Day Time Vanished
Imagine waking up one morning. You habitually reach for your phone to check the time, but no clock shows on the screen. The wall clock isn't broken—its hands are just gone. TVs, laptops, smartwatches, train stations, airports, schools, hospitals—everywhere, time has vanished. Nobody knows what hour it is, when noon will come, or when night will fall. Not just clocks, but the entire concept of 'time' has disappeared from the world.
At first, people will think it's a technical glitch. They'll assume the internet is down or a major software bug has hit. Now think: our whole world runs on time. Waking up, going to school, reaching the office, catching a train, flying a plane, performing surgery, opening the stock market, joining online meetings, even eating—all depend on some schedule. Trains will stand idle at stations because there's no fixed departure time. Planes will be grounded before takeoff, as time coordination between countries collapses. Shipping routes will be disrupted. Soon, global travel will grind to a halt.
The economy will suffer even more. Stock markets open and close based on time. Banks transact at fixed hours. Factories operate in shifts. Without time, trade will freeze. Millions won't know when to work or rest. Production will dwindle, shortages will appear in markets, and an economic crisis may unfold. Some will stay awake too long, others will sleep without reason. Hunger will come late for some, while others will eat constantly. Mental stress and physical problems will skyrocket. Conversations will slowly change. People will start guessing based on the sun, moon, and weather, just like ancient civilizations.
But this happiness won't last long. Gradually, people will realize that time provides not just pressure but also structure. Without time, there will be no goals. No one can say they'll learn a new language in a month or build a house by next year. Planning the future becomes nearly impossible. Humans will be forced to live only in the present.
Slowly, people will develop new ways. They'll work by watching the sun's position, farm by observing the weather, and rest according to their body's needs. Modern technology will fall behind, and humans might return closer to nature. But this change won't be easy. For many generations, the world will remain unstable, and civilization will have to reshape itself. Because lost money can be earned again, broken things can be rebuilt, but time that has passed never returns. Perhaps that's why the most precious asset in life isn't our clock, but every passing moment of it.
