Takengon is located in central Aceh, Aceh province, Indonesia. Takengon is a cool highland plateau with a height of about 1200 m above sea level. In the vicinity of Takengon there are many tourist attractions, including Lut Tawar Lake in Lut Tawar sub-district, Bebesen sub-district and Kebayakan sub-district, Pukes Pukes cave in Kecamatan Kebayakan and Pantan Terong in Bebesen sub-district.
