I noticed that I stopped hearing sparrows.

When you live in a residential area of ​​the city, even though it's called that, you still periodically hear different sounds outside the window that can prevent you from sleeping lol.

Sometimes, these are the sounds of parking cars, sometimes, it's the siren of a police car, fire engine, or ambulance, but, most often, these are the sounds that birds make.

Previously, I often heard the chirping of sparrows, the croaking of pigeons and the cries of squirrels and rooks.

But, at some point, this broth of sounds changed its recipe, some sounds disappeared, but new sounds appeared.

I noticed that I stopped hearing sparrows. Moreover, I stopped seeing them on the streets of the city, they disappeared.

And a piercing whistle appeared, which can be made by a bird of prey, and it was a steppe kestrel - Falco naumanni Fleischer.

Yes, in our house, as they sing in one old song, a remarkable neighbor settled, who with his presence drove away all the sparrows, who are very cautious and do not want to end up on the dinner table of this beautiful pimtsa.

The kestrel did not appear alone, there are several of them here and they settled on the technical floor of the multi-story building, it is quite warm there even in winter.

There, on the technical floor, live many pigeons and, it would seem, pigeons should have become the kestrel's main food, but I see something else.

The kestrel constantly conflicts with the magpies, sometimes the magpies get slapped by the kestrel, and sometimes the magpies cooperate with the large rooks and give the kestrel a slap, and it was at that moment that I took these photos, the frightened kestrel pressed itself against the wall of the house, sitting on a narrow ledge, escaping from the offenders.

So they live, the kestrel destroys the nests of the magpies, and the magpies destroy the nests of the kestrel, a strange neighborhood.

Almost all birds of prey are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine and are protected by law due to the fact that they are excellent orderlies and their population is not very large.
