AI completes the "everything apps"
Super apps only work if a single interface can meaningfully serve different needs without feeling like a cluttered mess.
If you've ever seen or used apps with many features, you probably have a record of a bad experience.
Apps with many features tend to be overwhelming. It's hard to navigate to what is useful to one at any given point, effectively leading to wasted time sorting through unwanted stuff.
No single person wants "everything"
Surely that sounds like a wild claim so let me rephrase:
No single person wants everything, every time or all at once.
The features person A finds valuable in this minute will often differ from what person B finds useful, so if both users are active on the app, how does the app decide what features get to be easy to find with little navigation?
That's the bottleneck
The idea of having everything is cool, the average person would value being able to shop everything in one place. But the problem arises when they discover that there'd have to go through so many things they don't care about to get to what they want, sometimes.
Never wants that. My legs certainly doesn't.
It's no different with digital platforms. Think about businesses in the niche of providing other other businesses with everything they need to run their business online.
We're talking about email, website builders, web hosting, content management systems, social media management solutions, and lots more.
In most cases, these platforms become difficult to navigate because there's so much everywhere that your eyes just wander and burn hours more than would be necessary.
Human navigation ➙ Agentic navigation
The future is agentic and everything apps cannot do without them.
Apps need not try to guess what users will need to access easily, they just need to have an agent ready to take the burden of finding those things away from the users.
This means that the first line of contact users have will be AI agents. Applications become personalized by user interactions with these agents.
AI agents will completely reshape how much a company can offer and how well they can offer it. The fun part is that integration with external providers will become smoother, allowing businesses to remain in the loop for profits even when users are searching for something they don't offer.
Interesting times ahead.
