A Slow Introduction...

Hello Steemers!

I have been watching your platform grow and evolve for months.  My soul brother @williambanks has been singing the praises of this social network all summer, sending me post links and sharing his experiences of Steemit with me.  I have been quite thrilled to see him find a network that has him feeling comfortable enough to share his deep insight and vision.  I find him to be one of the greatest minds of our time.  No fucking joke. (Warning do not follow me if you are offended by the f bomb, it happens to be one of my favorite words) He blows me away almost daily with his latest revelations, science, technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, culture, market, and religion posts....his perspective needed to be added into the mass consciousness mix...so thank you Steemit for doing that for all of us! <3

My name is Dawn Parker Waites and I have invested years building up a social network on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/sdlovesgreen . I have over 5,000 friends and followers personally and thousands more in groups I administer.  For me it has become grand central station for all of my communication.  So the thought of starting over in another platform has been frankly quite daunting.

As I have had time, I have found and read posts on the logistics of crafting posts.  In a future story I will compile some of the ones that were most helpful to me as a new user.  I have been thrilled to see more and more features being added on to make it more intuitive for the savvy social networker.  Love the share and feed feature!

I am known as serial entrepreneur, writer, journalist, political thought leader, tech geek, cultural commentator and new media artist. I am also a seasoned social activist and was an organizer for the Occupy movement in San Diego. I became known throughout the state as the founder of San Diego Loves Green, an online magazine started in 2008 and sold in 2012 to a public company. Through that channel I was a founding board member of the Sustainability Alliance of Southern California, and worked on the CA statewide campaign to defeat Prop 23. I also taught in the Green Energy Management program at San Diego State University.

I am currently working with a brilliant team in the blockchain technology space that you will be hearing more about from me.  And my creative side gets to play on the board of the new nonprofit A Face of Change and as the Director of Sustainability for Tyme 2 Shyne Films and Artistic Studios a burgeoning new film collective based in San Diego. I am just across the border enjoying a cultural adventure living as a gringo in a quaint seaside bungalow in Baja, Mexico.

I have Political Bi-Polar Disorder, I grew up with a mother that was a Democrat and a dad that was a NRA card carrying Republican.  I call both sides out equally on there hypocrisy.  It is why I have been put in female Thor costumes by my friends! Haha. I will cut through the bullshit rhetoric and get at the heart of the problem, so we can find solutions.  To me everything is political so my posts really will be about the world and life. And unfucking the world.

Looking forward to making some new friends, for you to know about blockchain innovation at this stage says a lot about you... I feel like you are all already my rebel tribe;-) Let's light this place up!
