Weekends are usually fun if there is money to spice them up.
Having fun is essential to life. After a busy and long weekday, the weekend should be used to have fun or rest. The weekend can be used to invite friends over to play games, watch movies, visit parks one has never visited before, or socialise with family.
Weekends are usually fun if there is money to spice them up. Money is a powerful tool that can be used to make us happy. It can be used to buy pleasure. Spending money on pleasure gives one a sense of joy and makes one feel better. However, lack of money sometimes makes the weekend dull.
So if I am given $20 to have fun for the weekend, I would spend it wisely.
First, I would convert it to my country's currency, which is N14,000.
Second, I would make a list of what I would do with the money, and the first thing on the list would be food. Food is one of the things that gives me pleasure, and I love to cook it myself.
I would take N5,000 ($7.14) out of the money to shop for what I would use to cook my favourite food (amala and bean soup). I know you’re probably thinking, "With the increase in the price of everything, will N5,000 be enough?" Of course it will do. I currently reside in the northern part of Nigeria, where the cost of living is friendly. I guess what will take most of the money is yam flour, and that’s because it's rare and expensive over here.
After making my favourite food, I will share part of it with my siblings. A good way to have one’s favourite meal!
The second thing that would be on my list is tourists. One way to enjoy the weekend is to visit tourist spots. It is a good way to enjoy the weekend because it is educational and fun.
So I will take N3,000 ($4.29) out of the money to visit some certain place that I have been longing to see in Kano State, Nigeria.
After that, I would be left with N6,000 ($8.57), from which I would take N2,000 ($2.86) out of it and give it to some beggars around because it is always kind to help those in need. These are the three things I would spend part of the money on.
You are still wondering what I will use the remaining N4,000 ($5.71) for, right? Well, I would save it and use it for something else later.
