Celebrating Public Knitting Day 🧶💚

Greetings and best wishes to my dear knitting friends. I hope you are all in good health and spirits.

This Saturday I was lucky enough to experience a very special day. Thanks to an invitation from some friends in the knitting community I’ve met here in Bogotá, I attended the Public Knitting Day celebration, an event that brings together people who share a love of needles, yarn and everything created stitch by stitch.

The venue chosen was the beautiful Virgilio Barco Library. We settled in the gardens, under the shade of the trees, surrounded by nature and with the weather seeming to have conspired to be on our side. From the moment I arrived, I felt a wonderful energy.

Este sábado tuve la fortuna de vivir un día muy especial. Gracias a la invitación de unas amigas de la comunidad tejeril que he conocido aquí en Bogotá, asistí a la celebración del Día de Tejer en Público, una fecha que reúne a personas que comparten el amor por las agujas, los hilos y todo lo que se crea puntada a puntada.

El lugar escogido fue la hermosa Biblioteca Virgilio Barco. Nos instalamos en los jardines, bajo la sombra de los árboles, rodeadas de naturaleza y con un clima que parecía haberse puesto de acuerdo para acompañarnos. Desde que llegué sentí una energía maravillosa.

Each of us brought along our work-in-progress, so it was inevitable that we would stop to admire the colours, stitches and textures, and swap ideas. I love how knitting has the power to bring people together. There’s always something new to learn or a tip to share.

As well as knitting, we shared delicious snacks that gradually appeared amongst the baskets of yarn and knitted bags. Between snacks, laughter and stitches, the conversation flowed naturally. We talked about knitting, of course, but also about life, our projects and our families.

It was a spectacular day that I enjoyed to the full. I left with a few more rows completed on my knitting, but above all with a heart full of gratitude for the company, the friendship and the opportunity to share a hobby that has brought me so much joy. 🧶💚

Cada una llevó su tejido en progreso, así que fue inevitable detenernos a admirar colores, puntos, texturas e intercambiar ideas. Me encanta cómo el tejido tiene la capacidad de conectar a las personas. Siempre hay algo nuevo que aprender o algún truco que compartir.

Además de tejer, compartimos meriendas deliciosas que fueron apareciendo poco a poco entre las canastas de hilo y los bolsos tejidos. Entre merienda, risas y puntadas, la conversación fluyó de manera natural. Hablamos de tejidos, por supuesto, pero también de la vida, de nuestros proyectos y de nuestras familias.

Fue un día espectacular que disfruté al máximo. Me fui con algunas filas más avanzadas en mi tejido, pero sobre todo con el corazón lleno de gratitud por la compañía, la amistad y la oportunidad de compartir una afición que tantas alegrías me ha regalado. 🧶💚
