I Tried Punch Needling

In the spirit of starting my fiber art venture, I decided to ditch the gun yesterday and punch some needle instead. I can tell you that both skills require a good level of precision which you obviously can fully grasp on your first try. Working with the gun is definitely faster and you can literally finish a small rug in a day, but punch needling is much much slower and requires a lot more precision that with the gun.

This is because every stride affects the look of your needle work. If you pull a little longer, it will show on the other side. This is my first punch needle work, I want to do more practice but it isn't comfortable to do with my big standing frame. I think it would be easier for me if I can get a much smaller frame I can hover on while I punch. I do have a little problem with my needle though, I'm not even sure how to explain but I definitely have to buy a different one.

For now, I am really enjoying working with my gun. I can't wait to share the works I have done with you guys here. I'm just not ready yet. No, I am not anxious I just prefer to share when I have carved and done all the finishing touches. For now, I am still trying to fill up my rather large canvas before I start with finishing touches.
