Molten salt reactors are a generation IV fission reactor designed to dissolve nuclear fuel into a low pressure liquid salt mixture. By using this approach, molten salt reactors will be capable of using nuclear weapons material, nuclear waste, and thorium as fuel!

The capability of burning nuclear weapons for electricity would encourage countries with large stockpiles to utilize that material for peaceful purposes.

Being able to burn nuclear waste in these reactors would allow us to harvest more energy from mined uranium and would reduce its required storage time from 10s of thousands of years down to only a few hundred years. It would eliminate the needs for extremely long term radioactive waste storage facilities and instead provide energy to the public.

Thorium is a relatively abundant element in the earths crust and our mines are currently discarding it as a byproduct of their production. Given the means to burn this element in fission reactors, we would be provided nearly an endless supply of energy.

A nuclear energy revolution would raise the standard of living, promote peace in the world, and supply our society with abundant, clean, and reliable energy for all.

An unlimited energy supply will be consumed without limits.
