A gastronomic delight in quarantine

Recently, I travelled to Jakarta and had to stay for a couple of days in Mercure Jakarta Batavia for quarantine. It is a four-star hotel, and I must say that I was quite impressed with the food they served. I haven't had authentic Indonesian food in almost three years, so I was quite excited to have nasi goreng with fried chicken. And of course, it was served with a giant slice of krupuk (prawn cracker). Even if I wanted to avoid spicy food due to some stomach issues, I couldn't resist trying the sambal. I ended up being full in the middle of the night (I checked it past midnight, and they served the meal right after I settled in my room).

When I woke up, I enjoyed some Western breakfast of sausage, scrambled eggs, and french fries. I paired it with a cup of hot tea with milk. And for lunch, I had another round of Indonesian cuisine. I love Indonesian food because it is similar to Filipino food. The main difference is that Indonesian food is spicier. I immensely enjoyed the bowl of soup. It is not obvious in the photo, but it has beef slices actually. I forgot the name, but it's really tasty. It was my ultimate comfort food whenever I would drop by Pan and Flip restaurant in Pekanbaru years ago. I also loved the fish fillet in curry sauce as well as the vegetable soup.

My quarantine stay was quite short because I already have my booster shot and my PCR test turned out negative. So after my mid-afternoon meeting, I transferred to another room for one more night. My flight to my next destination was on the morning of the following day.
