One thing about AI art: it fosters an interest in art itself and how it works. A significant percentage of AI artists create amazingly beautiful works, not because they cheat using a computer to do all the work, but they are artists themselves. I've discovered many artists in the course of my AI art journey, whom I would never have discovered were I not looking for styles to emulate and improve my own work.
In addition, often I will do post production on the works I generate, adding my own ideas or composition to the output.
