Their decision to buy the foreclosure in St. Pete was inspired in June of last
year. They had come across the Bay for the legendary Pride Parade and ended up
meandering through the old Northeast. They both found the Augusta block brick-
lined streets annoyingly narrow, but loved the old Florida bungalows, native land-
scaping and smattering of rainbow flags they found that afternoon. Buying a
house was the furthest thing from their mind since they rented a condo in Tampa
big enough for them with a guest bedroom and Jefe, their chihuahua, whom they
adopted from a Cuban family next door.
'The foreclosure sat on a corner overlooking the Bay near Northshore Park.
They were excited to have a fireplace, as both had grown up in Florida, and were
