TRUCKING HELL! - My Entry for the Reflection Hunters Contest.

Hello to all you Shadow hunters! It feels good to finally join you in this contest. I’ve been keeping an eye on you all and enjoying the fantastic images you have captured along the way. Inspiring stuff!

The image I’ve chosen to use is one I took way back in January 2024 during the floods that submerged much of where I live and in particular my place of work. The aerial pictures were taken a few days after the floods hit when the water levels had subsided. Nonetheless, I think they give a good idea of the scale of flood we were dealing with.

Unfortunately, my workplace is located right by the river which burst its banks and flooded the surrounding areas. Even with the moat we have dug around our site, the sheer volume of water that came our way meant that it was going to be a very bad day for my boss, Mr Walker.

But, you know what they say, “every cloud has a silver lining” (even when that cloud is carrying several million gallons of rainwater 🤪). So, during our salvage operation, I thought I’d take the opportunity to get some “once in a blue moon” pictures. The aerial photos were taken with my drone but the picture I want to enter into this #shadowhunters competition was one I took on my little old iPhone. It’s funny how you sometimes get some great results off of your low-tech equipment, right?

Anyway, here’s my entry for the Reflection Hunters Contest…

As you can see, I’ve edited my photo and turned it upside down for a bit of artsy fun. Hope that’s ok for the contest rules but if not you can always turn your screens upside down I guess 🙃

I really like the repetition in this photo and obviously the reflection too. It’s symmetry is interesting to me as it narrows to some sort of horizon. To be honest, I’ve no idea what I’m talking about but I do enjoy looking at this photo more that the others I took that day, so I guess there must be something special about it.

I did take another similar picture which I thought was quite a lonely sad looking truck. I think I almost felt sorry for the big hunk of metal. See what you think and let me know in the comments if you think so too.

As I mentioned earlier on, I took a few photos using my drone. I’ll pop these up next just to give you all an idea of how bad a day Mr Walker was having when the floods came to town.

Ok, that’s me done for now. Hope this is an enjoyable entry for all you #shadowhunters out there. Look forward to seeing some great photos from you all.

See ya!
