Hello, friends of the Black and White Community! It is a pleasure to greet you and share this photographic record with you. This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.

Walking through the Bolívar Squares of our cities is always an encounter with our history, but viewing them through a black-and-white lens transforms the experience. I love the sobriety, the elegance, and the way contrasts take center stage when color is removed.

Recently, both squares have undergone improvements that have restored the luster and dignity they deserve. All the photos I am presenting today were taken by me using my Redmi 9T smartphone camera in B&W mode, and I was fascinated by the results.

Valencia’s Bolívar Square (10:00 AM)
In the mid-morning, the light over the Valencia square creates a special atmosphere. In black and white, the monumentality of the Liberator and the surrounding architecture take on a solemn character—almost as if we were looking at an old photograph that tells stories of the present.

Los Guayos’ Bolívar Square (3:30 PM)
By the afternoon, the light shifts and shadows lengthen. In Los Guayos, the restoration work highlights the pristine nature of the new spaces and the imposing figure of the monument. Here, black and white emphasizes the geometric lines and the peaceful air that fills the place at that time of day.

I share this brief photographic record with you. To me, black and white is not an absence of color, but a different way of seeing light and appreciating details that color can sometimes distract us from.

Recorrer las plazas Bolívar de nuestras ciudades siempre es un encuentro con nuestra historia, pero contemplarlas en blanco y negro transforma la experiencia. Me encanta la sobriedad, la elegancia y cómo los contrastes cobran protagonismo al eliminar el color.

Recientemente, ambas plazas han sido objeto de mejoras que les han devuelto el esplendor y la dignidad que merecen. Todas las fotos que presento hoy las tomé yo mismo con la cámara de mi teléfono inteligente Redmi 9T en modo blanco y negro, y quedé fascinado con los resultados.

Plaza Bolívar de Valencia (10:00 h)
A media mañana, la luz que ilumina la plaza crea una atmósfera especial. En blanco y negro, la monumentalidad del Libertador y la arquitectura circundante adquieren un carácter solemne, casi como si contempláramos una fotografía antigua que narra historias del presente.

Plaza Bolívar de Los Guayos (15:30)
Por la tarde, la luz cambia y las sombras se alargan. En Los Guayos, la restauración resalta la pureza de los nuevos espacios y la imponente figura del monumento. Aquí, el blanco y negro enfatiza las líneas geométricas y la atmósfera de paz que inunda el lugar a esa hora del día.

Comparto con ustedes este breve registro fotográfico. Para mí, el blanco y negro no es una ausencia de color, sino una forma diferente de ver la luz y apreciar detalles que a veces el color puede pasar por alto.
