Transformations - Watercolors on Paper

Hello to all my dear Hivers friends, and welcome to my blog. Today I’m sharing my latest watercolor, which features a character from Greek mythology: Medusa with her snake-like hair, and at her side, a jellyfish that foreshadows her transformation. If you looked into Medusa’s glassy eyes, you would be instantly turned to stone; in fact, Perseus, the Greek hero who managed to kill her, used a mirror as a ruse to avoid looking her in the eyes. I wanted to use very cool colors in this scene to highlight the swirling tentacles and snakes writhing in the blue waters of the sea. I painted the ruins of ancient Greek architecture in the background to evoke the Greek myth.

Trasformazioni - acquarelli su carta

Ciao a tutti cari amici Hivers e bentronati sul mio blog. Oggi condivido il mio ultimo acquarello che tratta un personaggio della mitologia greca, Medusa con i suoi capelli-serpenti, e al suo fianco una medusa marina che preannuncia la sua trasformazione. Se si guardavano gli occhi vitrei di Medusa si veniva pietrificati all'istante ed infatti Perseo, l'eroe greco che riuscì ad ucciderla, usò come stratagemma uno specchio per evitare di guardarla negli occhi. Ho voluto dare alla scena dei colori molto freddi per evidenziare il turbinio dei tentacoli e dei serpenti che si agitano nelle acque blu del mare. Ho dipinto dei resti di antiche architetture greche sullo sfondo per ricordare il mito greco.
