Good Coffee, Cozy Space, Outbound Space, Listening Space - All In One Place !
Hi all coffee lovers, here I am back again after a while to share with you one of the coffee shops/cafes that I found offers something nice and unique, which differentiates it from many other places. I personally felt a bit overwhelmed when I discovered this place for the first time, as it has such various cool spots to be enjoyed for. The place called Suara Dewandaru, located in my hometown, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, the name itself means "the sound of Dewandaru", the word Dewandaru came from the traditional Javanese language, meaning "blessing from God". So, literally, the name's meaning can also be translated into "the sound of God's blessing". Such a deep and spiritual name, but it does really align with the place's vibe and soul.
Located in the northern part, despite its modern and famous reputation among local youth, the place is actually quite hidden and far from the modern urban part of the town. To come to this place, you need to drive through the village road surrounded by rice fields and trees. The first impression that came to my mind when I drove here was : "Is this really the way to get there? How come a coffee shop is located in a remote area like this ?" Then, the thought instantly changed once I arrived at the place; it was just like finding an oasis in the desert and entering a different universe.
Yes, as you can see on the video, the place is just like suddenly popping out of nowhere. It is quite huge and having wide parking area. I went to the entrance and ordered my drink at the traditional and artsy-style lobby. I ordered one of their signature menu called "Magick", it is a coffee milk-based but with a slightly higher portion of Espresso to create strong and bolder coffee taste.
I picked a seat and had my coffee come to my table. After had a few zip, I walked around to explore the place. As i walked around, I found out that the place is actually much bigger than I thought. Further back, they had this huge back garden area with some astonishing open space stages surrounded by bamboo trees, perfect for some outdoor activities like yoga or live performances. I asked the staff and they told me if Suara Dewandaru is more than just a cafe but its is also a place for the community where some of them are holding regular event at the place.
As I was there, there were some wooden stages that still under construction. I believe once it's finished perhaps in the next 3 - 5 months, this place will be more lively and more communities could hold their activities in this place.
So, if you are in Yogyakarta or planning to visit. I strongly recommend you to come here, it always felt great to revive your soul and mindfulness again.
Note: All photos and videos are from my own personal collection.
