Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! Lost Magic!
Hi everyone! It's time for the weekly Battle Mage Secrets challenge and the challenge this week is the Lost Magic Ruleset.
About the Ruleset
The Lost Magic ruleset states that "Monsters with Magic attack may not be used in battles". This means just that - No use of magic Monsters in the battle. Abilities like Shield, Thorns, Return Fire work great in this ruleset.

Details of my battle with this ruleset is as follows.
Lost Magic: Monsters with Magic attack may not be used in battles

Cards & Line Up
The Summoner
Summoner: Lobb Lowland - It decreases the Speed of my opponent's deck by 1 and grants me the use of one additional Gladiator card.

| 5 | Ava the Undaunted | It has the Weapons Training ability, and is here to provide Thane Newsong with added ranged attack. |
| 6 | Terraceous Hulk | It has the Taunt and Void Armor abilities. It's meant to take the heat off the main tank and let Katrelba Gobson do its work. |
Strategy
The ruleset here meant that magic monsters cannot be used.
Since we can only use monsters with physical attacks, I wanted to centre by strategy around Katrelba Gobson as my main attack. As such, I used Thane Newsong in conjunction to boost its melee attack, and Terraceous Hulk to take the initial attacks away, in case there are monsters with the Opportunity ability. I then placed Ava the Undaunted next to Thane Newsong to give myself 3 additional ranged damage. Mycelic Infantry is used as the main tank to slow the attacks by halving the damage taken.
The opponent opted for a somewhat similar strategy. The main attacks centred around Katrelba Gobson and Ancient Redwood, and he used Heals as the defensive strategy. Thankfully, my Katrelba Gobson was able to take out Ancient Redwood fast enough not for it to do too much damage. After that, I was able to take out the backline faster than the opponent, allowing me to win the battle.
Thoughts on the Lost Magic Ruleset
As the Lost Magic ruleset does not allow the use of Monsters with Magic attack, it is a more difficult to fight against opponents with a good amount of shields. I would think that a good strategy is to use high damage monsters and abilities like Corrosive Ward to take out the shields. Abilities like Thorns and Return Fire will also help do extra damage to the opponent.
