Nala- The Lion Queen

Would you believe me if I told you that I created these images without a mood board or reference to the character? Even I did not believe it.
On the day I created this piece amongst other themes, I simply got the urge to just shoot. And so I stood in front of my phone's camera and began to pose. As a self-portrait artist, I ensure every picture I take tells a story. As I posed, I started to get into character, putting on various faces each depicting something. Prior to that day, I had come across a picture of the artist Terms, with a reference being made to her face card and how it was giving "Nala" in the Lion Queen. I didn't think much about it but it already got impressed and imprinted in my head. While shooting, I kept freestyling and just allowing my inner model shine through.

I edited some of the images and was proud of a job well-done. While checking out the images again and simply admiring them, I noticed these pieces and it then struck me that I recreated a masterpiece! It was when I wanted to make a post on Instagram that I then searched for Nala's images and I was gobsmacked! The head position, eyes, mouth slightly agap were same. Mind you I had not taken the original images of Nala into cognisance prior. I hold this piece dear to my heart and hope to create many more amazing self portrait works
