The man filming the viral incident, Sharmake Omar, has a documented history with law enforcement that includes a 2021 guilty plea for disorderly conduct and minor traffic violations.
More serious allegations against Omar were also part of public records and defense arguments:
2022 Sex Crime Charge: Omar and an accomplice were charged with raping and falsely imprisoning an underage foster care runaway for two days, but these charges were dismissed in March 2025 "in the interest of justice."
2020 Violent Assault: Omar was charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly throwing a rock at a car and assaulting a 16-year-old driver, resulting in a $200 fine.
Despite these records, Omar did not testify during Shiloh Hendrix’s trial, and the judge excluded evidence regarding his criminal history from the proceedings.
