Mini Garden, Great Satisfaction, Early August

It never matters how small your growing space is; you'll always find something worth growing. So, here I am. Learning and learning how to manage a small space to bring many lessons.

Gardening is all about learning. So I make my garden my learning place. I do grow plants, but more than that, I also grow into something better than before.

Also, the grounding method makes me feel healthier! I really love the ritual of going barefoot in the garden. It gives me such a great energy!

Well, in early August, I was happy to be able to photograph small corners of each of my gardens with their harvests. Maybe for some people, this is just a small harvest. But for me, this brings great satisfaction.

Finally, I was able to harvest a unique vegetable for the first time. Unique because I'd never heard of this vegetable before. I discovered it while looking for vegetable seeds for the dry season.

Snake gourd. A type of vegetable that, according to several sources I've read, can withstand the extreme temperatures of the dry season in my current garden area. So I tried growing this variety.

It turned out to be true. In less than two months, the snake gourd was ready to be harvested. The plant is truly heat-resistant.

I was curious about what the inside of the snake gourd was like. Was it similar to bitter melon or luffa?

It turns out, the center of the snake gourd resembles bitter melon. But it's not bitter! In fact, the knife I used to cut the snake gourd was swarmed by ants.

It turns out the taste is actually a mix of cucumber and loofah. The outer skin of the snake gourd is crunchy, like cucumber skin. It's truly a unique vegetable!

Besides the snake gourd, I also have a stock of dried shallots. The shallot harvest I posted earlier.

Well, overall, with Big Boy, my constant companion, at least my small space is a great satisfaction for me.

The dry season isn't a barrier, but I have to learn more about which plants are suitable for my garden.

This snake gourd plant has a bountiful harvest even in extreme temperatures. So, I have another list besides long beans, shallots, kale, also spinach, for plants in the dry season.
