Pine Cones for Kindling our Fireplace
Today was again a nice and sunny day, it felt almost like spring! Some friends from the village came visiting us, and we all sat in the sun, having tea and homemade apple cake :-)
In the afternoon I went for a walk to gather some pine cones. I try to collect as many as possible, while the weather is still nice, and the cones are not covered by snow ^^
They are really great to start the fire in our fireplace and stove!
They burn very quickly and produce the necessary heat for the logs to catch fire.
The best is, there's a real abundance of them around here, because we have a pine forest just behind the house.
I did a little bit of research and found out that it's not recommended to use only pine cones for running a fireplace, because the resin could cause blockage in the chimney.
But it is no problem to use them just to start a fire :-)
