What is Holozing Wilds, and how does it differ from the original game?

Thanks everyone for the support on yesterday's post! I received a comment from Acid asking if I knew about Holozing Wilds, and the truth is, I had no idea until now! I've done some reading, and I'm going to give you a summary of what it is and how it differs from the original game.

The biggest difference is that Holozing: Wilds doesn't try to replace the original game. Instead of an exploration-focused RPG where players travel through a large world as healers, Wilds takes inspiration from incremental and clicker games.

That immediately changes the pace. Progress is much faster, decisions happen more frequently, and there's a constant feeling that you're improving your team every few minutes instead of every few hours.

What I find interesting is that the developers didn't simply copy the mechanics from the main game. The creatures, healers, progression, crafting system, and captured companions all belong exclusively to Wilds.

Nothing you capture or level there transfers directly into the flagship game, allowing both titles to evolve independently without one limiting the other.

At the same time, existing Holozing supporters still receive meaningful bonuses, such as starting with their best Alpha creature or using Holo Dust earned from previous events. It's a clever balance between rewarding long-term supporters and keeping the experience fair for new players.

I actually think this separation could become one of Wilds' greatest strengths. If every system had to remain compatible with the main game, development would probably become much more restrictive.

Instead, the team now has the freedom to experiment with progression systems, balancing, prestige mechanics, PvP, and even an independent marketplace without affecting the design philosophy of the original Holozing. That gives them room to test ideas that might eventually inspire future features elsewhere.

Another reason I'm optimistic is that incremental games naturally encourage long-term progression.

They give players something to do every day without demanding hours of uninterrupted play.

For people who enjoy optimizing teams, chasing rarer creatures, or slowly improving their account over weeks and months, Wilds could become surprisingly addictive. Sometimes the simplest gameplay loops are the ones players return to the most.

I also like that the developers are treating this as an open alpha instead of pretending everything is already finished.

Progress will eventually be reset before beta, and they're actively asking players to report bugs and share feedback. That creates the feeling that the community isn't just testing a product but actually helping shape it.

Looking ahead, I think Wilds could also serve another important purpose. While the flagship Holozing continues its longer development cycle, the community now has a playable experience that keeps people engaged with the universe.

It offers a different style of gameplay, experiments with new mechanics, gives the community something to enjoy today,

and provides the developers with valuable feedback for the future.

If it continues evolving after the alpha phase, Wilds could easily become a game that stands on its own while making the entire Holozing universe stronger.
